Suzy KabackĀ is a literacy teacher educator and a co-director of a Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teaching at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
Katherine Sokolowski has taught for over 20 years in elementary schools, and currently teaches seventh grade in the same small town in central Illinois where she grew up. Her work has been featured at the Nerdy Book Club and on NPR, and she often presents for Scholastic. She regularly writes about teaching on her blog Read Write Reflect.
In this video, two boys share other books beyond the writing of Matt Christopher that might interest their three classmates. The boys report on the books and describe components that are important to them.
Katherine Sokolowski scaffolds fifth graders Liam and Caden through the process of learning to recommend books to each other. The workshop includes reading from Tara Barnett and Kate Mills with suggestions for fostering better partnerships through student-created "want ads."
